Badge Placement...

Bearing in mind that the ATC is not a Boy Scout movement, there are a significant number of qualification badges which can be awarded to cadets.
Badges are not positioned randomly, but in a manner laid down in the ATC dress regulations, found in ACP20B Admin Instruction 204. This page is an extra of these regulations, but will be removed if it becomes out of date.

Badges should be neatly sewn onto the uniform, the thread colour should match the badge as closely as possible.
Classification badges (see Badges on the Brassard diagram below) are mounted with the propeller vertical for the Leading and Senior Cadet Badges or with a point of the star vertical for the First Class Cadet Badge.

You are not to wear unauthorised badges or symbols on or with your uniform.

Badges on the Jersey

The following badges are worn on the Jersey:

Cadet Flying Badges
Cadets are restricted to wearing only 2 of the flying badges on the left shoulder patch of the jersey, one to represent achievement in gliding and one in conventional flying.

•Single Badge. When a single badge is worn it is to be positioned centrally 1cm above the bottom edge of the patch of the left shoulder of the jersey.

•Two Badges. When badges from both categories are worn, the Gliding Proficiency Badge is to be positioned centrally 1cm beneath the Badge awarded for conventional flying. When the Glider Pilot Badge or the Glider Instructor Badge has been awarded, however, this is to be positioned centrally 1cm above the conventional flying badge.

Duke of Edinburgh Award Badges
Duke of Edinburgh Award badges are to be worn centrally on the right shoulder patch 1cm above its lower edge on the jersey.
Only one DEAS badge is to be worn, the highest award which the cadet has gained.

The Staff Cadet Lanyard
This is to be worn as a cord over the left shoulder, affixed under the shoulder strap and fastened to a small raised RAF crested black button sewn centrally on the bottom edge of the shoulder patch of the jersey.
When worn without the jersey the lanyard should be placed under the shirt epaulette on the left shoulder and the eye fastened under the shirt pocket.

Badges on the Brassard - Note: There should be no gap between the Identification, Distinguishing and Classification Badges
