Gliding...

612 Volunteer Gliding School
612 VGS provides gliding training for 2499. Equipped with the Grob 109B "Vigilant" motor glider, instructors at 612 VGS train cadets from introduction to solo standard.

Gliding Induction Courses (GIC)
Cadets attending gliding slots at 612 VGS will progress through the three Glider Induction Courses developing their basic flying skills. The GICs concentrate on the primary controls; rudder, elevators and ailerons, backing up the theory training conducted on the unit.

Keep your eyes on the Noticeboard for details of upcoming GICs.

Gliding Scholarship (GS)
Cadets over the age of 16 who have gained at least their Leading Cadet classification can apply for a Gliding Scholarship. This training course follows on from the GICs and trains cadets to solo standard. Most cadets do solo at this point.

Cadets who have either gained or are expected to gain their leading qualification should, one month before their 16th birthday, ask their Flight Commander for the relevant forms, as a medical to check for fitness to fly solo must also be taken.
